History
Early Beginnings
The Library was established to collect and keep custody of Legislative Assembly documents before Ghana's independence.
Post-Independence
Continued operations after Ghana gained independence, with recognition of the need to expand the facility.
Challenges and Setbacks
The coup that overthrew President Kwame Nkrumah disrupted the library's development. Subsequent parliaments made efforts to revamp the library.
Fourth Republic
The Library of the National Assembly bequeathed its collections to support the work of the Fourth Republican Parliament.
Relocation
Moved to a Reading Room at the Foyer of Chamber Block with collections from the old Parliament Library and donations.
Technological Advancements
With UNICEF's support, acquired computers, photocopiers, and internet facilities, marking the beginning of digital transformation.
Modern Facility
Now a state-of-the-art facility with over 5,000 books, modern technology, and a professional staff serving the Parliament's information needs.
